warm spring

Also known as 'True Spring', this is the original Spring subtype. Here, we see colours mixed with yellow to add warmth and nothing else to maintain their purity. The palette is reminiscent of budding blossoms and new life.

characteristics

Warm Spring sits between Bright Spring and Light Spring in the seasonal flow. This subtype features a moderate to high contrast level, allowing individuals to wear vibrant hues. Their palette includes warm colours like daffodil yellow and tangerine orange. In short, Warm Spring emphasises warmth and clarity, creating a juicy, fresh palette.

CONTRAST

As this subtype belongs to a season influenced by light value, their features tend to be fair to medium depth. This can create low contrast but is often increased by the luminosity across their appearances such as glossy hair, dewy skin and sparkling eyes.

WS - Skin [2024].png

SKIN TONE

Warm Spring skin ranges from fair to medium and has either golden or peachy undertones. This means their veins appear green or olive beneath the skin. Cool metals clash with these warm tones so gold, brass and copper work best for them. Due to their bright chroma, their complexions tend to be dewy or sheer. They may have freckles and tend to burn then tan due to their light influence.

WS - Eyes .png

EYES

We typically see blue, green and hazel colouring as well as brown and topaz in Warm Spring eyes. These colours are typically light to medium depth with warm gold or reddish accents. They reflect the light strongly due to an absence of grey pigmentation. There may also be definition on the outer iris edge and a pattern resembling a sunburst around the pupil.

WS - Hair .png

HAIR

Warm Spring hair can be blonde, brunette or copper and is golden or reddish in hue as this emphasises the warmth of the season. Due to their moderate contrast level, these colours tend to be medium to dark in value. Deeper variations are common in darker ethnicities as well as those who lean closer to Bright Spring. Due to their bright influence, Warm Spring hair generally has a beautifully glossy finish. This means one strip reflects the light rather than individual flecks, which we see in soft seasons.

colour palette

The Warm Spring palette is reminiscent of a walk in early April. The sky is a powdery blue, gently tinged with pink where the sun casts a golden glow along the horizon. The landscape below is a patchwork of tender greens - new grass, fresh leaves, and mossy undergrowth. The trees wear a gentle haze of pale lime and soft jade as their buds begin to unfurl. Amidst this greenery, splashes of colour bloom—daffodils glowing buttery yellow, primroses in soft cream, and violets adding strokes of purple to the scene.

WS - Metals [2025].png

metals

As a dominantly warm season, cool metals such as silver, platinum and white gold do not work for Warm Spring. They need lighter yellow golds or peachy rose golds to balance their appearance. These should be smooth and shiny as oxidised or tarnished metals clash with their bright chroma. Warm Spring should also avoid antique or bronzy golds as lighter variations are more suitable.

WS - Neutrals [2024] .png

neutrals

Warm Spring individuals cannot wear true black as this neutral is harsh paired with their delicate image. It overemphasises warm tones and reflects green on their skin. Instead, they can make use of medium depth chocolate browns and dark greens. Similarly, true white can make warm tones look sallow. Yellowish variations such as buttercream work much better.

WS - Accents [2024].png

accents

The Warm Spring palette contains more reds, oranges and yellows due to warmth being it's dominant characteristic. There are some blues but these naturally cool colours contain a hint of yellow to give them some warmth. Generally, Warm Spring accents are reminiscent of juicy fruit - think watermelon, papaya, mango and peach.

WS - Combinations [2025].png

combinations

As their contrast level is moderate to high, colour combinations need to mirror what is in the Warm Spring individual’s natural palette. In the first two examples, we have shown how accents side by side on the colour chart pair effectively. Similarly, you can select multiple colours of varying depths from one column to create a monochromatic mix, as shown in the last two examples. Alternatively, bright hues can be paired with dark neutrals to achieve a similar effect. This is what we have demonstrated in the third and fourth examples.

WS - Colours To Borrow [2025].png

colours to borrow

Depending on which way the Warm Spring individual flows, they may be able to borrow colours from neighbouring Bright Spring or Light Spring. Each of these subtypes have a neutral-warm hue so the blues, greens and purples on these palettes will be too cool for them. They can, instead, opt for the warmer colours from each of these palettes. Please note, the colour codes marked with an asterisk in the examples above are taken from the Bright Spring and Light Spring sample palettes respectively.

colours to avoid

As a warm and bright subtype, Warm Spring’s worst colours are cool and soft, such as those seen in Cool Summer. In the examples above, we see the colour before we see April. This indicates that they don’t balance her image. Again, the colour codes marked with an asterisk in the examples above are taken from the Cool Summer sample palette.
