light spring
This subtype is the fairest of the Spring season. Their colours are mixed with white to lighten and yellow to warm, which creates a playful palette filled with pastel hues reminiscent of delicate French patisseries.
characteristics
Light Spring is found between Warm Spring and Light Summer on the seasonal flow. This subtype features a low to moderate contrast level meaning their best colours resemble those in their own palette in either hue or value. Their palette includes warm pastels like pistachio green, peach melba, strawberry pink and lavender.

CONTRAST
Light Spring individuals have very low levels of contrast due to the combined fairness of their features. However, this blend that is created by light skin, light hair and light eyes is increased slightly by the luminosity in their image. Depending on the individual's natural appearance, they may have a dewy or sheer complexion, sparkling eyes and/or glossy hair, which add additional areas of light and dark.

SKIN TONE
Despite their fair appearance, we see Light Spring individuals with fair through to medium depth skin tones. This may have golden or peachy undertones but can also be neutral, which means we will see either green or purple veins beneath the skin. As such, warm metals will always be more effective but they may be able to wear silver or platinum. Freckles are also common for Light Spring individuals but they do tend to burn before tanning.

EYES
We typically see blue, green and hazel colouring as well as brown and topaz in Warm Spring eyes. These colours are typically light to medium depth with warm gold or reddish accents. They reflect the light strongly due to an absence of grey pigmentation. There may also be definition on the outer iris edge and a pattern resembling a sunburst around the pupil.

HAIR
In keeping with their ethereal image, Light Spring individuals have fair hair. Blondes are very light through to dark but we don't see anything deeper than a light brunette or copper. These colours tend to be warm with either strawberry, honey, gold or reddish hues. However, as they border Summer, it is not uncommon to see a mix of ash as well. They also tend to have glossier shines.

colour palette
Light Spring is reminiscent of a May morning stroll, filled with the gentle warmth of the sun and the invigorating scent of blooming flowers. The trees, adorned with fresh green leaves, sway lightly in the breeze, casting playful shadows on the ground. You might spot early blooms of daffodils and tulips, their vibrant colours painting the landscape. The earth is waking up; you can almost hear the rustle of new growth and feel the energy of renewal all around.

metals
Light Spring, as a neutral subtype, has the versatility to wear cool metals, but warm metals like gold and rose gold truly enhance its brightness and warmth. Lighter, shinier finishes are more suitable as depth is jarring against a fair appearance. It’s also important to avoid antique or hammered finishes as they tend to look heavy.

neutrals
Light Spring individuals cannot wear true black as it is too stark against their delicate appearance. Medium-depth warm greys and browns are more suitable. Similarly, creamier shades of white and pinkish beiges are better than pure white. This bright neutral is harsh on light subtypes and can overemphasise warm undertones, making them look yellow and sickly.

accents
Due to its neutral-warm hue, the Light Spring palette contains more reds, oranges and yellows. These include peachy hues, primrose yellows, jacaranda purples and celery greens. However, there are blues and purples with a subtle hint of both white and yellow to both lighten and warm them. Cooler accents should be balanced with warm jewellery options.

combinations
As their contrast level is low to moderate, colour combinations need to reflect what is in the Light Spring individual’s natural palette. In the first two examples, we have shown how accents side by side on the colour chart pair effectively. Similarly, you can select multiple colours of varying depths from one column to create a monochromatic mix, as shown in the last two examples. Alternatively, light accents can be paired with light neutrals to achieve a similar effect. This is what we have demonstrated in the third and fourth examples.

colours to borrow
Depending on which way the Light Spring individual flows, they may be able to borrow colours from neighbouring Warm Spring or Light Summer. Warm Spring has a dominantly warm hue and higher contrast level so people with Light Spring colouring will need to select the cooler, lighter hues from this palette as shown above. Similarly, Light Summer has a neutral-cool hue so Light Spring individuals will need to select the warmer colours from this palette such as the pinks and yellows. Please note, the colour codes marked with an asterisk above are taken from the Warm Spring and Light Summer samples respectively.

colours to avoid
As a light and warm subtype, Light Spring’s worst colours are dark and cool, such as those seen in Dark Winter. The cool shades in the examples above overpower Maya, casting shadows on her face, which dramatically age her. This demonstrates that they are not suitable for her delicate appearance. Again, the colour codes above marked with an asterisk are taken from the Dark Winter sample palette.
