Also known as 'Clear Spring', this is the brightest Spring subtype. Here, we see warm colours mixed with little to nothing else to maintain their purity. The palette is reminiscent of tropical jungles.

characteristics

Bright Spring sits between Bright Winter and Warm Spring in the seasonal flow. This subtype features a high contrast level, allowing individuals to wear vibrant colours beautifully. Their palette includes bright, clear hues like turquoise and coral, balanced with some deeper shades. Overall, Bright Spring emphasises clarity and warmth, creating a dynamic and fresh style.

CONTRAST

Bright Spring individuals, being on the edge of Winter, often possess more depth compared to other Spring subtypes. As a result, their natural contrast can be quite pronounced, characterised by dark hair and/or eyes paired with fair skin. Attributes like dewy skin, sparkling eyes, and glossy hair further enhance this contrast, creating distinct areas of light and dark within their overall appearance. Consequently, Bright Spring individuals exhibit a high to intense level of contrast.

SKIN TONE

Skin ranges from fair to tan and has a neutral or yellowish undertone, resembling sand, which causes their veins to appear either green or purple. These individuals generally look best in gold, but since they are on the cusp of Winter, they can also wear cool metals if balanced with warm neutrals or accents in their outfits. They may have freckles but often burn before developing a tan. Additionally, their complexions tend to have a naturally dewy appearance.

EYES

We have outlined blue, brown, green, hazel and topaz eyes as common colours for Bright Spring. However, as this season is influenced by light value and warm hue, any colour which is somewhat fair, golden/red and clear is possible. As a Spring subtype, we're likely to see definition on the outer iris edge and a sunburst pattern around the pupil.

HAIR

Due to Bright Spring's higher contrast level, we often see deeper blondes and auburns in this subtype as well as light to medium brunettes. Their undertones may be golden or reddish in hue but it is Bright Spring's intensely glossy shine that sets them apart from other subtypes.

The Bright Spring palette is bursting with exciting wild and vivid colours. Imagine relaxing on a remote island surrounded by luscious green foliage; the delicate scent of vibrant blooms carried on the soft warm breeze. The refreshing lagoons invite you for a dip whilst the tall palm trees create a natural canopy overhead. As you explore, you catch a glimpse of parrots, toucans and lorikeets flitting through the trees, adding splashes of colour to the clear blue sky. The air is alive with the sounds of nature and the sight of tropical fish darting in the crystal-clear waters.

metals

Belonging to a warm season, Bright Spring generally looks better in gold, rose gold and copper. However, they can make use of silver and platinum if they are paired with clothing in warm accents and neutrals. Regardless of the hue, they should be light as dark and dull colours are too overpowering for any Spring individual. Similarly, matte, antique or brushed finishes clash with bright chroma so metals should be clean and polished - the shinier the better!

neutrals

Whilst this subtype borders Winter, pure white and pure black are still too cool and harsh for Spring's delicate image. There are yellowish off-whites and beiges instead of white as these are warmer variations. They can also use dark greenish blacks in place of black as well as dark browns and charcoal greys. These neutrals require a pop of colour to add interest to looks as all neutral outfits will drain a Bright Spring's natural glow.

accents

In the Bright Spring accent palette, we see a variety of vibrant hues. They will appear bold on the hanger but look natural and effortless on someone with these colour qualities. As a warm season, there are more reds, oranges and yellows. There are also blues, greens and purples but these are mixed with a small amount of yellow to warm the colour.

combinations

Bright Spring individuals have high contrast levels, which need to be repeated in their colour combinations. The colour qualities of these pairings should oppose each other in either hue or value. In the first two examples, we have paired light neutrals with bright accents to achieve this effect. You can also opt for a bright neutral and light hue as seen in the fifth and sixth examples. Another way to do this is by pairing two accents of opposing hues. This can be seen in examples three and four.

colours to borrow

Bright Spring individuals leaning towards Bright Winter can make use of the warmer hues on that palette. Above we have used a hot pink, a lime green and a cool yellow. These are not as effective on Claire as she flows further into Spring. Her image is stronger in the cooler colours of the Warm Spring palette. colours to avoid

This subtype's colour qualities are clear chroma and a warm hue. Therefore, their worst colours are muted and cool such as those seen in Soft Summer. Above, you can see how the dusty tints dampen Claire's brightness and muddy her image. Please note, the colour codes marked with an asterisk above correspond to the Soft Summer sample palette.
